Revenue & Royalties
Use this workflow when platforms (game stores, app stores, distributors) settle revenue to you and you owe shares of that revenue to partners. It turns each incoming settlement into remittances per payee, with tax withholding. The process is automatic and auditable.
The pipeline
Set up the reference data once. Each settlement then flows through in order:
- Receiving accounts. Account details Oncade gives you to collect incoming payments, with deposit details per currency. Point your platforms' payout settings at these.
- Senders. The sources that deposit into your receiving accounts. They appear automatically on their first deposit. Give each sender a nickname, choose how Oncade parses its statements, and route it to a default receiving account.
- SKUs. Split definitions per SKU. Each SKU matches a product id from a platform's report and carries a split table: which payees get what percentage. The business keeps the remainder.
- Payments Received. Review each settled transfer and reconcile it against the line items it covers. When a line item matches a SKU, Oncade copies that SKU's splits onto the line item.
- Revenue Share. Usage data rolled up per period and mapped to the SKU that defines how that revenue is divided. When you confirm a rollup, the raw usage becomes payable line items.
- Remittances. Build a remittance for a payee over a period. It shows what it covers, how Oncade computed the amount, and what it withheld for tax. Pay it to the payee's Oncade account or a linked bank account.
Uploading a statement before the payment
A store or distributor often sends its sales statement before the money arrives, or pays somewhere other than a receiving account. On Payments Received, choose Upload statement to add the statement on its own. Oncade reads it the same way as a report attached to a payment: map its line items to SKUs, edit or exclude rows, and reconcile it into remittances. You do not need a payment to reconcile.
When the payment arrives, open the statement and link it to that payment. The statement then shows its total next to the amount received. You can unlink it again. Uploading the same file twice returns the statement you already uploaded, and a file already attached to a payment cannot be uploaded again as a separate statement.
Payees
Payees are the partners and people you pay royalties to. Add each payee with a nickname and email. Set their withholding rate and payout method. Track their tax-form and verification status. SKU splits and remittances reference these payees, so create payees before you define SKUs.
Third-party payees are people you pay straight to their bank without an Oncade account. Under Third-party payees on the Payees page, choose Invite payee, enter their email, and pick the country and payout method where they bank. They get an email link to enter their own bank details. The list shows each one as Invited, Awaiting bank details, or Ready. You can resend the invite until they finish, or archive the payee to delete their bank details. The payout method is fixed once the invite is sent. The list only shows the methods your business can pay out with today. Some methods appear only after your business finishes verification for that region.
Business admins can also enter a payee's bank details for them. Choose Add payee without invite to add someone without sending an email, or Enter bank details on a payee who has not finished. Only enter another person's date of birth or ID number with their consent. To change a bank account that is already saved, archive the payee and add them again.
Tax withheld
When a payee's withholding rate is above zero, Oncade holds back that share of each remittance before payout. The Tax withheld view tracks the amounts withheld across payments. The payee's tax-form status gates their rate. See Tax.
Royalty statements
Each remittance doubles as a royalty statement for the payee. It shows the covered period, the line items and splits behind the amount, and the withholding applied. This gives both sides an audit trail from platform settlement to individual payout.
